What can I expect when I visit Coast Valley Worship Center?

Q.  What happens at Sunday morning worship?
A.   The service begins at 10:30 a.m. and ends at about noon.  We will have a time of contemporary musical worship, followed by announcements.  Sometimes we take prayer requests after we sing.  There will then be a break of about 15 minutes during which people are free to greet one another and visit the refreshment table in the fellowship hall.  We then meet back together for the sermon.  On the first Sunday of the month a brief communion service follows the sermon.  Children's church is available for the children during the sermon.

Q.  How should I dress?
A.  Dress is very casual as CVWC.  Most people wear jeans or comfortable clothes.  Wear whatever is comfortable for you.

Q.  Is there a program for the children?
A.  A children's church program is available for pre-school and elementary age children during the sermon.

Q.  Why is that large cross at the back of the room?
A.  We believe that it was on the cross that Jesus brought redemption to mankind.  At the cross He met our every need.  The cross in our sanctuary is a reminder that Christ daily is there for us and cares for our every need.  At the foot of the cross you will find slips of paper, a hammer, and nails.  Feel free to come up during the worship part of the service to nail a prayer request to the cross and to pray.  Someone is usually available to pray with you if desired.

Q.  Will I be pressured to get involved?
A.  We would be delighted to have you to join us in any activity, but you will not be pressured to participate or volunteer for a ministry.  We believe that members will sense the leading of the Holy Spirit if He is calling them to be involved in a particular area.  Opportunities for service may be announced, but individuals will not be pressured.  This approach means that there are some traditional church ministries which may not be offered while other less conventional ministries may be available.  If there is a need we trust the Holy Spirit will meet it even if that need is met in a way that we did not expect.
